Jose Aldo added to UFC Fight Night card in December

UFC has announced several additions to a Dec. 16 event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, including the return of former featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Aldo (26-3) will meet Ricardo Lamas at UFC Fight Night, which will take place at Bell MTS Place. It will mark Aldo's first appearance since he lost his 145-pound title to Max Holloway in June.

UFC president Dana White announced the fight to TSN on Friday. White also confirmed a welterweight bout between Mike Perry (11-1) and Santiago Ponzinibbio (25-3).

Aldo, 31, was long considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He defended the featherweight championship seven times and went unbeaten for nearly 10 years before suffering a 13-second knockout loss to Conor McGregor in 2015.

The Brazilian reclaimed his title by defeating Frankie Edgar in July 2016 but failed to defend it against Holloway at UFC 212.

For Lamas (18-5), the fight represents another shot at Aldo. The two met in February 2014, during Aldo's title reign. Lamas suffered a lopsided five-round decision loss.

A welterweight fight between former champions Robbie Lawler (28-11) and Rafael dos Anjos (27-9) is set to headline the UFC Fight Night card. White has said the winner will be next to challenge champion Tyron Woodley.
