Michelle Waterson (14-5) will face Tecia Torres (9-1) on Dec. 2 in a high-profile women's strawweight bout at UFC 218 in Detroit, it was announced Tuesday.
The fight will be added to a card that already features featherweight champion Max Holloway defending his title against Frankie Edgar in the co-main event. Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou will also headline the card, which also includes two lightweight bouts and a flyweight bout.
Waterson is looking to get back into the Octagon following an April loss to Rose Namajunas, who will fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the strawweight title at UFC 217 on Nov. 4 in New York.
Torres has won two straight fights, defeating Bec Rawlings in February and Juliana Lima in July. Her only loss in UFC came against Namajunas in April 2016, though Torres had previously defeated Namajunas in 2013.
"Tecia has been calling me out since her last fight," Waterson said in a phone interview. "I'm just trying to give her what she wants. It'll be a great fight."
