Ricardo Lamas broke his jaw in three places, courtesy of a knockout punch from Calvin Kattar in UFC 238, he wrote on social media Tuesday.
Lamas has been hospitalized in his hometown of Chicago since the fight there. He had surgery Monday to have titanium plates installed in his face, he wrote.
"I asked the doctor to install small laser guns in my mouth that I could activate with my tongue and shoot through my teeth but he said that was impossible," Lamas joked.
Lamas (19-8), a former UFC bantamweight title challenger, has lost three of his last four fights. "The Bully" got caught with a massive left hand by Kattar at 4:06 of the first round at UFC 238.
Lamas, 37, has been a pro MMA fighter for 11 years.
