Nurmagomedov's cousin accepts fight at PFL 6

Umar Nurmagomedov, the younger cousin of undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, will make an appearance at PFL 6 on Aug. 8, according to the Professional Fighters League.

Umar Nurmagomedov, who also is undefeated (10-0), will face Sidemar Honorio (13-6) in a non-tournament bantamweight bout. The one-off fight is not part of PFL's yearlong season, but is billed as a "New Fighter Showcase."

This will mark Nurmagomedov's second fight for PFL. He picked up a unanimous decision under the PFL banner in August 2018.

"Umar Nurmagomedov has proven to be more than just 'Khabib's cousin,'" said Ray Sefo, the PFL president of fighter operations. "He is a rising star in the sport with unlimited potential."

Fighting out of Dagestan and American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California, Nurmagomedov has a similar fighting style to his cousin, who earned a submission win over Conor McGregor last October and has become one of the most famous MMA fighters in the world.

"Umar is the guy I want to pass the torch to when I'm done with my career," Khabib Nurmagomedov said in a statement released by his representatives. "I think he's a future champion anywhere he fights, and PFL has given him an amazing opportunity to showcase his talent on ESPN."

PFL 6 is scheduled to take place at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and will air on ESPN2.
