UFC welterweight Daniel Rodriguez has agreed to a short-notice fight against Kevin Lee at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 28, sources told ESPN.
Rodriguez (15-2) replaces Lee's original opponent, Sean Brady, who was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury. The event is set to take place at the Apex facility in Las Vegas.
Lee (18-6) is fighting for the first time since March 2020. The 28-year-old former lightweight underwent multiple knee surgeries last year. This will be his first welterweight appearance since a submission loss to Rafael dos Anjos in May 2019. He fights out of Las Vegas.
Rodriguez, of Southern California, is 5-2 since signing with the UFC last year. He is coming off a knockout win against Preston Parsons at UFC Fight Night in July. His only loss in the UFC came via decision against Nicolas Dalby in November.
A featherweight fight between Edson Barboza and Giga Chikadze will headline the UFC Fight Night on Aug. 28.
