The 2021 offseason at one time was trending toward historic.
All-Stars LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paul George, Rudy Gobert, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo and Donovan Mitchell were being marketed as the greatest group of free agents in league history.
What would eventually transpire in the shortened 2020 offseason was each player choosing long-term security (over $1 billion in new contracts) over a less-than-certain free-agent market.
The players who were not extended will enter the 2020-21 regular season on the last year of their existing contracts, looking to prove worthy of big money next summer, when ESPN is projecting nine teams to have at least $20 million in cap space.
So what's next for the fourth-year players who didn't get extensions, and the handful of veterans who still might at some point this season?
