Chris Paul: I'll pay Gerald Green's fine for shove, ejection in win

NBA, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves

Chris Paul says he will pay any fine that results from teammate Gerald Green shoving Minnesota Timberwolves center Gorgui Dieng in the fourth quarter of the Rockets' 129-120 win Sunday night.

Green was ejected for coming to Paul's defense after a frustrated Dieng pushed him down after a foul.

With 10 minutes to play and the Rockets leading 109-96, Dieng pushed a bent-over Paul in the back. Paul had fouled Dieng and knocked the ball out of his hands and was chasing the loose ball out of bounds.

Green then took several full strides toward Dieng before delivering a forearm shiver to Dieng's back and upper arm. Players from both teams then converged on the three players before order was restored.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Paul said he would pay any fine stemming from the incident.

Green sounded contrite after the game.

"I'm just trying to be there for my teammate," Green said. "I saw something happen and I reacted. I paid the consequences for it. I learned my lesson, got ejected, try not to do that again, and hopefully we're going to move forward from this."
