A Los Angeles home belonging to Washington Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson was the scene of a home invasion earlier this week, police said Friday, confirming a TMZ Sports report.
Jackson, who was at the Redskins' facility on Friday, was not made available to the media. He hasn't played since Week 2 because of a hamstring injury.
"DeSean is currently in Virginia with the Redskins," his publicist told ESPN.com's John Keim. "He had no knowledge of the incident until a phone call last evening. It's a legal matter, which is in the hands of law enforcement. We are waiting for the results of their investigation."
The Los Angeles Police Department said four suspects invaded Jackson's home early Wednesday morning. Officer Aareon Jefferson says five people were home, but Jackson was not among them.
TMZ Sports reported, citing its sources, that at least one person inside the home was pistol-whipped and suffered minor injuries.
Those inside the home fought off their attackers, who fled the scene. Jackson was not the target, a source told TMZ.
Detectives are investigating but have no leads, arrests or suspects.
"He's here today and he's obviously concerned," Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Friday. "He's letting the law enforcement there take care of it. Obviously some things happened at his house, and he's very concerned as every homeowner would be. He'll get to the bottom of it as will the police, and we'll go from there."
