MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings rookie defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman was one of several victims wounded during a shooting in Washington, D.C., on Monday, according to a statement from the team.
Twyman was in a vehicle when he was shot four times, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's expected to make a full recovery.
Twyman was shot in the arm, leg, buttocks and shoulder, Rosenhaus told Schefter Tuesday. Twyman is expected to be released from the hospital this week and "there doesn't appear to be any long-term injuries that would prohibit him from playing this season," according to Rosenhaus.
"Wrong place, wrong time," said Rosenhaus, who told ESPN that Twyman was in Washington visiting an aunt. "In talking to him today, he's going to be OK -- that's all that matters. We're thankful he's OK. He will make a full recovery."
The 21-year-old suffered superficial exit wounds and will not need surgery, according to Rosenhaus.
The Vikings said they are in direct contact with Twyman and his family and are "extremely thankful Jaylen is expected to make a full recovery."

Minnesota drafted Twyman with the 199th pick in May. Before opting out of the 2020 season, Twyman became the first interior defensive lineman to lead Pitt in sacks (10.5 in 2019) since Aaron Donald achieved the same feat six years prior.
