Capitals sign goalie prospect Clay Stevenson to 3-year deal

The Washington Capitals re-signed goaltender prospect Clay Stevenson to a three-year, $2.325 million contract Tuesday.

The first year of the deal will be a two-way contract paying $750,000 at the NHL level and $200,000 in the AHL. The next two years will be on a one-way contract for $775,000 per season.

Stevenson, 24, is 9-4-0 with four shutouts, a 1.70 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage in 13 games for the AHL's Hershey Bears this season. He leads the AHL in GAA and shutouts and is second in save percentage.

The Alberta native made his AHL debut last season and finished 3-0-0 with a 1.96 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

Stevenson originally signed a two-year, entry-level deal with the Capitals in March 2022, following his sophomore season at Dartmouth.
