The Vancouver Canucks agreed to terms with defenseman Tyler Myers on a three-year contract late Thursday, keeping another veteran who contributed to the club's division title last season.
The deal carries a $3 million average annual value, but represents a step down for the 34-year-old blueliner, who just finished the final year of a contract that paid $6 million per season.
Myers helped lead a resurgence in Vancouver, as the Canucks won a first-round series after taking the Pacific Division crown. He can still play big minutes, and the Canucks deployed him against some tough competition down the stretch.
As the Canucks stole headlines away from the rest of the Western Conference in the regular season, he finished with 29 points, his highest total in six years. But he's also just one year removed from a minus-16 campaign.
Earlier in the week, Vancouver signed forward Dakota Joshua to a four-year extension, and re-signed center Teddy Blueger to a two-year contract worth $1.8 million annually.
