North Melbourne confirm Majak Daw has suffered torn pectoral

North Melbourne defender Majak Daw has suffered yet another injury setback.

The Kangaroos on Sunday confirmed that Daw had torn a pectoral muscle, which will sideline him for a substantial period of time once the AFL season resumes on June 11.

It is the latest blow in a cruel run of injuries for the 29-year-old defender, after he suffered serious hip and pelvic injuries following a fall from Melbourne's Bolte Bridge in late 2018.

Daw suffered the pectoral injury while training in the gym on Friday afternoon.

"Maj was doing his weights program and felt a sharp pain on his right side during a chest exercise," North Melbourne General Manager of Football, Brady Rawlings, said.

"He was sent for scans and the imaging showed a tear.

"We are seeking expert opinions as to whether surgery will be required and will make a call on that in the coming days.

"Majak has had an unfortunate run with injury of late but we will support him and ensure he can recover well, and hopefully build up to playing games again this year."

If Daw is required to have surgery, there is every chance he will not play any footy in 2020.
