No. 10. David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
2010 stats: He played in 13 games and ran 113 times for 619 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 26.5 yards on 22 kickoff returns and produced a school season record with two return touchdowns.
Previously ranked: Not ranked.
Making the case for Wilson: Have you seen him run? Maybe 90 yards against Georgia Tech? Or 92 yards against NC State? He has averaged 9.3 yards every time he has touched the football during his career at Tech. First down, anyone? Wilson is explosive. He’s versatile. He scored five touchdowns rushing, four receiving and two on kickoff returns last season. Athletically, he’s going to go down as one of the best the program has ever seen. He earned All-American status in the triple jump with the Hokies’ track team. Now that Darren Evans and Ryan Williams are gone, it’s his show. Sure, he’s not as accomplished yet as some of the other players on this list, but as far as potential goes? He’s practically off the charts. No doubt a top 10 player.
