The Baltimore Ravens must cut their roster to 75 by 4 p.m. ET Tuesday and to 53 by 4 p.m. ET Saturday. Here's a final 53-man roster projection:
QUARTERBACK (2): Joe Flacco, Ryan Mallett
For the past six years, the Ravens have kept only two quarterbacks heading into the regular season. If there was any real competition for the backup spot, Mallett won it over Josh Johnson on Saturday, when he passed and ran for touchdowns.
RUNNING BACK (4): Justin Forsett, Kenneth Dixon, Terrance West, Buck Allen
Dixon's sprained knee might have saved Allen, who appeared to be sliding off the roster bubble. Keeping four tailbacks would go against the Ravens' trend. Baltimore has carried only three tailbacks in seven of coach John Harbaugh's previous eight seasons.
FULLBACK (1): Kyle Juszczyk
He led all NFL fullbacks with career highs in receptions (41), receiving yards (321) and touchdown catches (four).
WIDE RECEIVER (7): Steve Smith Sr., Mike Wallace, Breshad Perriman, Kamar Aiken, Chris Moore, Michael Campanaro, Jeremy Butler
Campanaro gets the nod over Keenan Reynolds for the slot receiver-returner job. Butler leads the Ravens with 13 catches (nearly twice as many as anyone else), 114 yards receiving and two touchdown catches. He can't miss making the final cut for a third straight year, right?
TIGHT END (3): Crockett Gillmore, Dennis Pitta, Maxx Williams
Benjamin Watson is expected to go on injured reserve after tearing his Achilles on Saturday, which gives the Ravens an unexpected roster spot before the start of the regular season and probably gives Darren Waller a place on the team once his four-game suspension is over. This is all contingent on Pitta (fractured finger) and Williams (undisclosed injury) being healthy.
OFFENSIVE LINE (8): Ronnie Stanley, John Urschel, Jeremy Zuttah, Marshal Yanda, Rick Wagner, Alex Lewis, Ryan Jensen, D'Ondre Wesley
If Urschel (contusion) is ready for the start of the regular season, the Ravens can risk carrying only eight offensive linemen. If he's a question mark, Baltimore likely will have to add another lineman, such as Vlad Ducasse. Lewis, a rookie fourth-round pick, would fill in for Urschel in the starting lineup. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Ravens add a veteran offensive lineman next week after cuts are made.
DEFENSIVE LINE (6): Brandon Williams, Timmy Jernigan, Lawrence Guy, Carl Davis, Willie Henry, Brent Urban
This is the youngest position group on the team. No one is older than 27. If the Ravens can figure out a way to keep seven linemen, Kapron Lewis-Moore makes the team.
LINEBACKER (9): C.J. Mosley, Zachary Orr, Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil, Albert McClellan, Za'Darius Smith, Kamalei Correa, Matt Judon, Chris Carter
Orr has won the starting spot next to Mosley, and Dumervil and McClellan will rotate at the one outside linebacker spot. Depending on the severity of Smith's ankle injury, Baltimore might have to carry nine linebackers. Carter also gives the Ravens an experienced special-teams player.
SECONDARY (10): Jimmy Smith, Shareece Wright, Eric Weddle, Lardarius Webb, Anthony Levine, Jerraud Powers, Tavon Young, Terrence Brooks, Kendrick Lewis, Will Davis.
The Ravens have been tight-lipped about the injury status of Lewis, who has been out for two weeks. With Matt Elam (knee) a candidate to receive an injury settlement, Baltimore's depth at safety is an issue. The last spot in the secondary is between Davis and Sheldon Price.
SPECIALISTS (3): K Justin Tucker, P Sam Koch, LS Morgan Cox.
Tucker, Koch and Cox all have made the Pro Bowl over the past two seasons.
