SAN DIEGO -- One of the team's top areas of need heading into this year's draft, the Los Angeles Chargers did not address the safety position until Day 3, selecting Miami's Rayshawn Jenkins in the fourth round and Iowa's Desmond King in the fifth.

Jahleel Addae and Dwight Lowery are the projected starting safeties. However, the Chargers could use more experienced depth in the back end. So it makes sense that the team is kicking the tires on Tre Boston.

Released by the Carolina Panthers in a cost-cutting move after the draft earlier this week, Boston said via Twitter that he's visiting the Chargers, after already meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

According to Boston, he also has a meeting set up with the Buffalo Bills.

A fourth-round selection by the Panthers in 2014 out of North Carolina, Boston totaled 108 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks in 42 games played, including 16 starts. The 24-year-old also finished with 10 career pass breakups.

At 6-1 and 205 pounds, Boston played mostly free safety for the Panthers last season.
