Bradley Sowell surprised at how quickly Seahawks showed interest in him

Here's a roundup of local and national Seattle Seahawks-related links.

During an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle, new offensive lineman Bradley Sowell talked about the Seahawks' interest in him, via Brady Henderson:

"They showed a lot of interest. They called me right away," he said. "For a guy who hasn't started a ton over the last couple of years, that's a little bit rare to get that kind of interest quick. Usually a guy like me would have to wait a little longer, but they were really quick, so obviously they had done film study on me and stuff. They were really quick and called me, and when I got here, they basically kept making me an offer. We were going back and forth with Arizona because they still wanted me as well. It kinda just got a point to where Seattle really, really wanted me quite a bit more it seemed like. I just feel like the opportunity to get a fresh start here is really what I needed."

Larry Stone of The Seattle Times weighs in on the state of the Seahawks' offensive line:

Their message can be reduced to two points that are hard to argue with. The first is, the start of the season is still about six months away. What you see now may not be what you get in September, so hold off on premature panic.

Andrew Brandt of SI.com offers some thoughts on Russell Okung's deal with the Denver Broncos:

The worst-case scenario for Okung is that he earns $1 million for participating in the Broncos’ offseason workout program and is released before training camp. Most likely, Okung will make somewhere between $5-8 million this season with the Broncos, the team of his choosing. Next year, he will either trigger the "second contract" with the Broncos at a much higher level—it averages $12 million over four years—or become a free agent again. The contract is certainly not as "end of the world" as the agent community would have us believe, but there are some deficiencies.
