Jeff Horn-Tim Tszyu fight finally has a new date

The highly anticipated Jeff Horn vs. Tim Tszyu fight finally has a new date.

The pair will lock horns on Wednesday, August 26 at Townsville's Queensland Country Bank Stadium in a junior middleweight bout which is set to determine Australia's greatest boxer.

Originally the fight was scheduled in April, however the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to be pushed back later in the year.

Fans will be able to attend the bout, with 16,000 tickets to go on sale on Monday afternoon.

"COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the tourism and events industry, but thanks to the efforts of Queenslanders to flatten the curve, we've been able to slowly ease restrictions and start reopening our economy," said Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. "We'll be able to welcome 16,000 fans into the stadium, that's 16,000 people that will be spending money in the local economy and supporting local recovery efforts."

Both Horn (20-2-1) and Tszyu (15-0-0) are coming off December victories. Horn won his rematch against Michael Zerafa in Brisbane, while Tszyu earned a fourth-round stoppage win over Jack Brubaker in his last outing.

With a no rematch clause added to the contracts, the winner is expected to earn a world title fight.
