Matt Limegrover, Jim Zebrowski fired after Gophers finish 97th in scoring

Minnesota has fired offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover and passing game coordinator Jim Zebrowski after a 5-7 season, the school announced Sunday night.

Limegrover, who also served as the team's assistant head coach and offensive line coach, has called offensive plays for the Golden Gophers since 2011. He had worked alongside Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys since 1999, as both were assistants under Jerry Kill at four different schools. Claeys took over as interim head coach when Kill retired for health reasons midseason and was named permanent head coach earlier this month.

Claeys addressed the dismissals in a statement issued by the university.

"Matt and Jim are both terrific people and coaches, but I have decided to make a change that will better fit my offensive philosophy, which is to have one coordinator calling the plays," Claeys said. "They have been great representatives for the university and always put our student-athletes first, and I thank them for their contributions to our program and wish them well in the future."

The Gophers rank 97th in the FBS in scoring this season at 24 points per game. They are 75th in passing yards with 214.2 yards per game.
