Big names, impactful additions

Commitments in conferences are not created equal. Some schools will always get big-name prospects, while others can surprise their conference foes with certain commitments. Some pledges are wins for keeping a particular player at home or because he fits in a system perfectly. Here's our list of the most important commitments in each conference.

ACC

OL Mitch Hyatt
ESPN 300 rank: 17
Committed to: Clemson

The No. 17-ranked Hyatt was a huge momentum-building win to start the Tigers' 2015 class right. While many believed Hyatt was a lock for the Tigers, Ohio State, Auburn and Georgia made it a battle for Dabo Swinney and staff, who worked hard for the five-star tackle.

Hyatt Hyatt

Why it's important: First and foremost, Clemson was expected to reel in Hyatt due to strong family connections to the program with his uncle Dan Benish having played on the Tigers' 1981 national title team. Second, Hyatt plays at Atlanta-area powerhouse North Gwinnett and is a name that has been known to nearly every prospect in the region since a sophomore-season matchup with 2013 top-ranked prospect Robert Nkemdiche. Finally, Hyatt is a potential difference-maker at tackle and getting his early commitment created a huge amount of early momentum in the 2015 class coming off the attention-grabbing Orange Bowl win over Ohio State. His pledge has been huge for the Tigers' staff on the road in Georgia, Florida and Maryland as the Tigers have built the No. 2-ranked recruiting class currently.

Others considered: Clemson commit Deon Cain (No. 25), Miami running back commit Jordan Scarlett (No. 143), Florida State quarterback commit Deondre Francois (No. 55) and North Carolina four-star offensive tackle verbal William Sweet. -- Gerry Hamilton
