Terrell Stoglin breaks own BAL scoring record, but US Monastir triumph

Terrell Stoglin broke his own Basketball Africa League [BAL] record for most points scored in a single game on Friday, netting 41 points in AS Sale's 96-90 loss to US Monastir.

On May 20th 2021, Stoglin scored 40 points in an AS Salé 88-79 win over AS Police to become the first, and to date only, player to hit that mark in the BAL.

Against Monastir, Stoglin had a 12-for-23 shooting, including a 6-for-11 haul from behind the arc, to finish with 41 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds in 40 minutes.

Stoglin scored 3 of his 6 three-pointers in the final quarter when AS Salé' took the lead for the first time after trailing by 20.

Stoglin did a bit of everything to keep AS Salé in the game, but the Tunisian side proved too strong as the Moroccan champions fell for their second defeat in three games.

Asked about AS Salé's situation in the Sahara Conference, Stoglin said: "It's tough to be in this position and I am hurt.

"We need to get these last two games [against DUC and SAC] I have confidence in my guys, this is a great team.

"We got hurt. We always fight till the end. We're going to give our best effort in those two games. It's do-or-die situation for us."

Monastir, meanwhile, are 3-0 in the competition, though head coach Modrag Perisic was not entirely happy with their efforts and such a big scoreline.

"Happy for the win, but tonight we weren't so good. Of course I am not satisfied with the way played defense tonight," Perisic said in the post-game press conference.

"They have very good individual players and we allowed them to play an equal game with us. They didn't use many rules, but they had some good individual plays.

"Each time we had a 10+ lead, my team relaxed, they thought it was an easy one. But we played relatively better defense when we were up by one or two."
