Lewis Hamilton finished final practice for the British Grand Prix with a comfortable margin over the rest of the field after Nico Rosberg's session was interrupted by a gearbox oil leak.

Hamilton struggled with his set-up on Friday, but after changes overnight he excelled in cooler conditions on Saturday morning and clocked a 1:32.917, 1.2s faster the best time on Friday afternoon. Rosberg's final attempt was slightly delayed as the team investigated a gearbox oil leak, but Mercedes managed to send him back on track and he set a time 0.552s shy of his Mercedes team-mate. Once again, Kimi Raikkonen was the best of the rest with a time 0.775s off Hamilton and 0.226 quicker than Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

The Toro Rosso is proving to be a quick car around the high-speed layout at Silverstone, with Max Vertsappen fifth ahead of team-mate Carlos Sainz. Williams, which is hoping for a strong result in front of its home fans, had to settle for sixth and seventh behind the Renault-powered cars, but tends to step up the power from its Mercedes power unit in time for qualifying.

Daniil Kvyat was the highest-placed Red Bull in ninth ahead of Pastor Maldonado, Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo. McLaren's struggle continued with Jenson Button 16th and Fernando Alonso 18th. However, Alonso failed to clock a quick lap on the medium tyres after his session ended early with a hydraulic issue.
