Max Verstappen thinks Red Bull will be even more competitive at the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix than it was at the Circuit de Catalunya last weekend.
Verstappen won in Spain but only after the two Mercedes took each other out of the race on the first lap. Red Bull scored its best qualifying result of the year at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Daniel Ricciardo 0.680s off the pole position time of Lewis Hamilton.
But Verstappen thinks Red Bull can be even more competitive on the tight streets of Monaco, where a lack of power can be masked by a good chassis.
"For me, I think this track [Circuit de Catalunya] in general with this car suits us a bit better, but still you want more and more power and soon I think we will get some more power, so that's very positive," he said. "But I think a street circuit will be even better for us, but let's wait and see."
Asked if he prefers street circuits to traditional race tracks, Verstappen said: "It all depends how good your car is. If your car is good on a street circuit you prefer a street circuit.
"I think Monaco is always something special with the atmosphere and when you are pushing it to the limit in qualifying it gives you a great feeling."
