As was the case in mid-April when service-time clocks were delayed by a year, it appears we are safely beyond the date when players can become super-two eligible and receive four years of salary arbitration instead of the customary three. With that said, we can expect a wave of call-ups in the next few days and weeks, with the first squall already passing through.

Shortstop Tim Anderson received the call from the Chicago White Sox on Friday. In the same transaction, Jimmy Rollins was designated for assignment, which means the job is there for Anderson to take. The rookie went 2-for-3 in his MLB debut on Friday night. The more impressive of the two hits was a screaming line drive down the baseline that jumped off the bat at 105 mph. He had no hits over the weekend, but the White Sox seem serious about contending and Anderson looks like their best bet at shortstop.
