Erick "Cubo" Torres selected in Mexico squad to face United States

Chivas striker Erick "Cubo" Torres is back in the Mexico squad for the April 15 friendly against the United States in San Antonio, despite his lack of minutes for his club.

The 22-year-old -- on loan from MLS side Houston Dynamo -- hasn't started a single Liga MX game since his return to Chivas for the Clausura 2015, but has scored five goals over league and cup matches.

Chivas teammate Carlos Salcedo -- who joined the club over the winter from Real Salt Lake -- received his first call-up to the full national team, with the 21-year-old center back having impressed so far this season.

Other first team call-ups in Herrera's 19-player squad include Chiapas right midfielder Luis "Chaka" Rodriguez and Queretaro's central midfielder Mario Osuna.

Leon's Luis "Chapo" Montes comes back into the squad for the first time since breaking his leg against Ecuador in a World Cup 2014 warm-up match.

In the goalkeeping position, Herrera called up Monterrey's Jonathan Orozco and Club Tijuana's Saucedo, leaving out regulars Jesus Corona and Alfredo Talavera.

No Europe-based players were included because the date isn't an official FIFA international match day.

Mexico is preparing for a busy summer, with 46 players and two separate squads required for the Copa America in Chile and Gold Cup in the United States and Herrera having a difficult task deciding which players will go to each tournament.
