Dom Dwyer is now a United States citizen.
The England-born Sporting Kansas City forward took the Oath of Allegiance during his naturalization ceremony at a court house in Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday.
Dwyer, 26, has lived in the United States since 2009 and has held a green card since 2012.
"I am extremely happy to have completed the process of becoming a U.S. citizen," Dwyer said. "This country has given me a lot over the past eight years, and I look forward to giving back as much as possible.

A former Norwich City youth player, Dwyer played two years at Tyler Junior College in Texas before moving to the University of South Florida.
He has made 141 appearances for Sporting KC over all competitions, scoring 62 goals and providing 12 assists since joining the club in 2012.
Dwyer was married to U.S. women's team star Sydney Leroux in 2015. Their young son, Cassius Cruz, was born in September.
