Stoke City's Jese vows to 'run more, score more goals' for ill baby son

Jese Rodriguez has said he will "run more and score more goals" for his baby son, who is being treated in hospital following complications arising from his premature birth earlier this summer.

Jese, who joined Stoke City on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain last month, posted a photograph on Instagram of himself holding son Nyan at a hospital in Gran Canaria.

The player, who travels to Spain to visit his son on his days off, wrote: "You are the best thing that could have happened.

"Each day by your side I learn from you, from your strength, your will, your attitude to not give up, your tenderness, the way you suffer, and little by little you are coming out of this...

"There are many things that fill my heart and, considering the negative of the situation, you still give me happiness.

"I will run more, score more goals and do everything a father can do to see his children at home not stop smiling.

"Everything will go well, and I will always be by your side."

Jese, who cost PSG almost £22 million last summer, has scored one goal in three league starts for Stoke.
