Andrea Bertolacci excited to join 'important project' at AC Milan

Italy midfielder Andrea Bertolacci has joined AC Milan, the club have announced.

Bertolacci has said he is excited to play for "a very important club" as the €20 million move to AC Milan from Roma was completed on Monday.

Bertolacci recently returned to Roma after the Giallorossi reached an agreement with Genoa to buy out their half of his registration last week, but immediately moved to the San Siro.

The midfielder underwent a medical at Milan on Monday and spoke to Milan Channel about the move.

"I've arrived at a very important club, and I can't wait to get started," the Italy international said. "Milan were always the first choice for me -- I really wanted this club. The club has immediately shown me a lot of affection.

"There's an important project, and great desire after a difficult season. I want and need to improve. I have to build on an important year and help take Milan back to the top.

"I'm expecting an important season. I'll try to do my best, and I hope to finish as high as possible. I've already spoken with [Luca] Antonelli, [Alessio] Cerci and the coach [Sinisa Mihajlovic]. I felt great enthusiasm, and a desire to do well."

The 24-year-old has represented Italy at every youth level and made his senior international debut in November.

Despite joining Roma at youth level he had not made his first-team debut when he left for Genoa, for whom he made a total of 90 appearances, scoring 12 goals.
