Tottenham in talks with Palermo over €25m move for Franco Vazquez

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has revealed he is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur about a Premier League move for Franco Vazquez, but says it will take €25 million for the playmaker to leave the Serie A club.

Vazquez joined Palermo from Argentine club Belgrano in the summer of 2012 and rose to prominence alongside current Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

This season he scored eight goals and added seven assists in 36 league appearances, predominantly at No.10, although he can also play as a central striker.

The Argentina-born Italy international has apparently caught the eye of Mauricio Pochettino and Zamparini believes the Premier League is his most likely destination.

"It's definitely more likely that Vazquez will go to England -- I'm asking for €25m for him," the Palermo chief told Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

"I have lower offers, but for me he's worth as much as [Domenico] Berardi. I can see him doing well anywhere. He's underrated and I don't know why. He could do well even with Leicester. Milan and Roma were interested, but if I see that Berardi is moving for €25m, then I would go for Vazquez.

"Unfortunately he's not one who talks much and he doesn't have the kind of character to impose himself. I'm in touch with Tottenham and I've asked them for €25 million, so let's see."

The news comes alongside Tottenham's reported interest in AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen as Spurs step up their transfer activity following a third-place finish in the Premier League.
