Udinese pull plug on Luis Muriel and Andrea Coda moves to Sampdoria

Udinese have called off the transfer of Luis Muriel and Andrea Coda to Sampdoria and summoned the two players back to the club.

Muriel had already undergone a medical in Genoa with the Blucerchiati, but an injury he is currently carrying meant he failed it.

Sampdoria were reported to have asked for a discount on the forward, but they are now set to miss out on Muriel, as well as Coda, altogether after Udinese demanded the pair return to their club.

"Udinese announces that negotiations with Sampdoria for the transfers of Luis Muriel and Andrea Coda have been interrupted and the two players have been called back to be made available once again to the coaching staff of Andrea Stramaccioni," read a statement on the Serie A club's official website.

"Udinese have taken note of the different evaluations over the estimated recovery time from injury for Luis Muriel and, after allowing the player to undergo further tests and examinations, we now feel it is in the best interests of the player and the club not to go any further.

"Luis Muriel and Andrea Coda, who have both always been models of professionalism, will return immediately to continue his recovery in the former's case and to return to training in the latter's case."

With that move now broken down, Sampdoria are likely to step up their efforts to sign Samuel Eto'o from Everton.
