The Liga MX Apertura is six weeks into a 17-week season, just three matches away from reaching the halfway point of the league.
Excuses are now wearing thin for underperforming squads, and the departure of Puebla's Ruben Omar Romano brings the coach firings tally to two for the Apertura.
The weekend also collected a decent amount of scoring from the Liga MX squads. Four games had three goals or more -- with the standout being Tigres' 5-1 win over Morelia.
Luckily for squads such as Chivas, Pumas and Morelia, there is still time to sneak into the playoffs. With America being the only team so far to dominate the league, there will be plenty of competition for the other seven Liguilla spots.
Here are lessons learned from the most recent Liga MX weekend:
1. Veracruz have successfully scraped by
Here's a fun stat: Veracruz have scored only two goals this season but are sitting comfortably in 11th place with seven points. The Tiburones Rojos scored both goals in one game and have collected four 0-0 matches this season.
No team has scored on them in their away matches, but then again, they haven't scored in those games either. The team has also given up only two goals since the Apertura started.
2. Leon have struggled and will continue to do so
The past few weeks have been rough for coach Gustavo Matosas, and things don't appear to be getting any better for him.
Although Leon were down to 10 men for most of their match, there was no excuse for their loss against Leones Negros on Sunday. The Guadalajara team, player for player, is not on the same level as Leon, and Matosas should have at least gained a point from this match.
With another CONCACAF Champions League match scheduled this week, Matosas and crew might be stretched too thin during their busy schedule. Leon have done well this season when it comes to scoring, but the current champion needs to tighten up its defense.

3. Club America are the last undefeated team, for now
America are lucky enough to not have their best performances during their last two games but still attain four points.
Against Morelia, Las Aguilas almost embarrassed themselves but were able to score a last-minute winner at home. Against Chiapas, the Mexico City team wasn't able to take advantage of its opportunities on net and finished with an underwhelming 0-0 score.
Sure, America are still undefeated, but the almighty squad has begun to show cracks and fissures in its immaculate stature.
4. Matias Alustiza carried Pachuca against Atlas
Playing against Atlas was never going to be easy. Before Saturday's match, Atlas were undefeated and had allowed only two goals.
Pachuca, on the other hand, had just lost 3-0 to a Toluca side that currently looks like a diet version of the team from last season.
As soon as the initial whistle blew, the difference-maker was Alustiza. The 5-foot-5 attacker scored a hat trick for Los Tuzos and helped secure their third win of the season.
5. Morelia are (currently) the worst team in the Liga MX
Things appeared to be going well for Morelia when they faced America. They had an admirable 1-1 scoreline after 30 minutes before ultimately losing 3-2.
The morale of the squad even seemed to sway a bit more positive than usual after David Depetris' selfie goal celebration.
Unluckily for Morelia, their woeful defense showed itself by allowing four more goals from Tigres -- which ended the match in a 5-1 loss at home for Los Monarcas.
Morelia have yet to win this season and have allowed 14 goals in six matches. That brings the squad up to a minus-11 goal differential and places them in first -- in goals conceded.
