Karim Rekik leaves Manchester City for Marseille transfer

Karim Rekik has completed his move from Manchester City to Marseille.

City had agreed a reported £3.5 million fee with the French club for the Netherlands international, who can play in the middle or on the left of the defence.

And now Marseille have announced they have signed both Rekik and Argentine midfielder Lucas Ocampos.

Rekik, 20, had been on City's books for four years but only made three first-team appearances, with his sole Premier League game coming against Reading in 2012.

He has spent the last two seasons on loan at PSV Eindhoven, helping them win the 2014-15 Eredivisie title.

Besides the sum for Rekik, City also recouped £1.5 million by selling Dedryck Boyata to Celtic and received £1.24 million as a result of their former player Kieran Trippier's move from Burnley to Tottenham.

Scott Sinclair's transfer to Aston Villa brought them £2.5 million while Schalke paid them €13 million for Matija Nastasic.

Alvaro Negredo's move to Valencia, which was formally ratified at the start of July, was worth €30 million but it was guaranteed last September and City were able to use the funds to buy Wilfried Bony in January.
