Sunderland are closing in on a deal for Netherlands forward Jeremain Lens with the player set to undergo a medical on Monday, sources have told ESPN FC.
Last month, ESPN FC revealed that Sunderland had targeted the Dynamo Kiev player as manager Dick Advocaat looked to bolster his attacking options.
The Black Cats saw an initial offer for Lens rejected but returned with an improved bid of £9 million last week and the deal appears to have been agreed.
Lens, 27, has been given permission to travel to Wearside for talks at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.
Advocaat worked with the attacker when the pair were together at AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven.
Lens came through the ranks at Alkmaar before moving to Eindhoven in 2010 and scored 34 goals in 96 Eredivisie appearances. He joined Kiev in 2013.
If Sunderland seal the move, he will become their third signing of the summer after Sebastian Coates and Adam Matthews.
