Juventus' Mauricio Isla too expensive after Copa America Chile role - Sevilla

Sevilla have pulled out of the race to sign Juventus right-back Mauricio Isla.

Isla, 27, was Sevilla's No. 1 candidate to replace Aleix Vidal, who was sold to Barcelona last month.

The Chile international spent last season on loan at Queen Park Rangers, making 24 Premier League starts.

His strong display for hosts Chile at the Copa America, which helped his national team win the tournament for their first time, has seen Isla's value increase in the space of a month.

When asked about Isla, Sevilla sporting director Monchi told his club's official website: "We showed great interest to sign the player before the start of the Copa America, but his good performances in the competition have seen his price shoot up and also changed Juve's thoughts."

Isla had a starring role for La Roja at the Copa America, and scored the only goal in a quarterfinal win over holders Uruguay to put Chile into the last four of the competition.

Isla was widely expected to leave Juve this summer with the South American having made just 27 appearances for the Italian giants since joining them in 2012 from Serie A side Udinese.

He has two years left on his Juve contract and according to Marca, the Italian champions will not sell the player for less than €10 million -- a figure Sevilla are not prepared to pay.

"As of now, we are working on other interesting options and we hope that we can soon get one," Monchi said. "We have worked for the last four or five days on other names and this week we could have some news.

"We have no other urgent matters besides reinforcing our right-back position."

Meanwhile, Sevilla strengthened their attacking line with the arrival of Italy international Ciro Immobile on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund on Monday.

Immobile, who was Serie A's top scorer in the 2013-14 campaign while on the books of Torino, is Sevilla's seventh signing this summer.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult debut season in Germany, making just nine Bundesliga starts and scoring three goals.

Immobile, who is under contract with Dortmund until June 2019, will replace Carlos Bacca following his move to AC Milan.

The Colombia forward, Sevilla's top scorer for the past two seasons, signed for the Rossoneri for €30m earlier this month.

The arrival of Immobile means Sevilla will no longer pursue French striker Ben Yedder, who attracted the attention of Sevilla after an impressive campaign with Tolouse.

The 24-year-old scored 14 goals and set up three more in 36 Ligue 1 appearances in the 2014-15 campaign.

"Since we signed Ciro, we have discarded the option of Ben Yedder," Monchi added. "Once we get a right-back, we will have all of our aims covered although if something comes up from here until Aug. 31, we would study it."

Sevilla, coached by Unai Emery, finished fifth in La Liga but will play in next season's Champions League after their successful Europa League title defence.
