Sunderland have announced the signing of defender Younes Kaboul from Tottenham on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Kaboul, who had been informed he had no future at Spurs, underwent a medical at Sunderland earlier on Thursday.
"I'm delighted to be a Sunderland player and it's an honour to join this club," he told Sunderland's website. "I would like to thank Lee Congerton and the head coach for making this move possible and I can't wait to start playing for the Sunderland supporters."

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino had made the 29-year-old his captain last summer, but he lost his place in the side and made just 15 appearances last season.
"He is a very experienced player, which is what we need," Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat said of Kaboul. "He has shown that in his time at Spurs and he will be a very good addition to our squad."
Tottenham have moved to bolster their central defensive options this summer with the signings of Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer to push Kaboul further down the pecking order.
Sunderland switched their attentions to Kaboul, who is the final year of his contract at Tottenham, after seeing a move for Zenit St Petersburg defender Nicolas Lombaerts fall through.
Sunderland director Lee Congerton added: "In Younes we have signed an established Premier League player with pace and power at the back, which are qualities required in the modern game. We're pleased that he's agreed to join the club and he will bring good competition to the squad."
Kaboul is Advocaat's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Sebastian Coates, Adam Matthews and Jeremain Lens.
