Como goalkeeper Simone Scuffet says he can imagine a future at Roma as he prepares for his first season away from home -- a year after he turned down the opportunity to join Atletico Madrid.
Scuffet, 19, had an offer from the Spanish club 12 months ago which would have seen him multiply the salary he was on at Udinese. However, following discussions with his family, he chose to stay put in Friuli and finish school in Italy.
After catching the eye with his performances in Serie A for Udinese during the 2013-14 campaign, he then lost his place in the starting XI under Andrea Stramaccioni last season.
He moved to Serie B club Como on loan this summer on the advice of Udinese, and he hopes to revive his career there to attract interest from the top clubs once again.
"First of all, I need to play a good season with my new club," he told Corriere dello Sport. "I need to grow and improve. This is why, in agreement with Udinese, I decided to come and play in Serie B.
"It's an experience which could enrich my curriculum. It's the first time I've moved away from home."
At Como, Scuffet will be working under coach Carlo Sabatini -- the brother of Roma's sporting director, Walter.
"Let's just say that if Roma really are interested in me, then they would have a privileged way of getting to me," Scuffet said. "But it's too early to talk about this. I'm sure a big club like Roma have a strategy and they will find the right solution for them."
