Oxford United's FA Cup hero Kemar Roofe targets another upset

Kemar Roofe was the hero of the FA Cup third round -- and the Oxford United striker does not care who they face next.

Roofe scored a superb quickfire double as the League Two outfit stunned Premier League Swansea 3-2 in the biggest shock of the round.

But he said: "I don't mind who we get in the next round -- just as long as we win that one and get to the round after. It doesn't bother me who we get.

"It's not every day you play against a Premier League side so you just want to do your best. It's not just me it's the whole team. Everyone on that pitch put in a shift. We had no nerves as we were the underdogs."

There was little sign of the drama to come when Swansea took the lead, albeit against the run of play. Jefferson Montero charged into the area, played a neat one-two with Marvin Emnes and impudently back-heeled the ball past United goalkeeper Sam Slocombe.

But Oxford deservedly hit back through Liam Sercombe's penalty, after Kyle Bartley's foul on Alex McDonald, just before half-time.

Roofe then stole the show after the break, firing in a stunning curler from the edge of the area before starting and finishing a lightning breakaway move which began with his header from Swansea's corner.

Bafetimbi Gomis pulled one back for the Swans, but they never really looked like finding an equaliser.

Delighted Oxford boss Michael Appleton said: "I thought the performance was magnificent.

"To beat a Premier League team on your own patch is one thing, but the way we did it, the way we passed the ball and the chances we created at times was great."

Upsets were otherwise few and far between this weekend, although non-league Eastleigh are still in the draw after a 1-1 draw with Championship side Bolton.

The Wanderers needed an 87th-minute equaliser from Darren Pratley to ensure they avoided a humiliating defeat.

James Morrison also struck a late leveller as West Brom rescued a 2-2 draw against Championship Bristol City.

Top-flight basement side Aston Villa avoided an upset but are still without a win under Remi Garde after being held to a 1-1 draw by League Two Wycombe.

The fourth-round draw will be made on Monday.
