If there was some kind of formal award for elite play-acting, Portland Timbers forward Lucas Melano may have just sewn up the 2016 edition with his majestic theatrics during Saturday night's game against Real Salt Lake.
Having received the slightest of pushes in the back, Melano reacted in flamboyant style by pulling a full front somersault out of the bag before flashing a textbook pleading look in the direction of the referee.
Impressive, in a thoroughly depressing kind of way.
