Fenerbahce haven taken the unorthodox step of thanking Dirk Kuyt for playing an important role in their acquisition of fellow Dutchman Gregory van der Wiel.
Van der Wiel was unveiled as a Fener player on Monday afternoon but only after Kuyt, who spent three years with the Turkish club between 2012 and 2015, sold the Dutch full-back on the idea of moving to the Yellow Canaries.
Very happy to be part of the Fenerbahce family! Can't wait to wear the shirt on the pitch! 💛💙 #vdw23 pic.twitter.com/G3x5PmdG2S

No sooner was the ink dry on the contract, Fener issued a statement on their official club website to personally commend Kuyt for his role in the deal.
"We would like to thank our ex-player Dirk Kuyt," the statement reads.
"[He] played a big role in the transfer process of our new transfer Gregory van der Wiel to make him a new member of our family by giving positive and right references about our club."

It's always nice to have your hard work recognised.
