Midfielder Chris Herd has left Chesterfield to join Australian A-League side Perth Glory.
The former Aston Villa trainee was signed by previous Spireites boss Dean Saunders in September on a contract until January, with his stay at the Proact Stadium then extended for the remainder of the campaign.
But with Chesterfield having just one League One match left to play, and with their survival now assured, Australian Herd has been allowed to leave and return to his homeland to realise an ambition to play for Perth Glory.
Herd told the A-League's official website: "I'm thrilled to be coming home and re-joining some former teammates of old and working with Kenny Lowe.
"Pulling on the purple for Perth Glory has been something I've contemplated for a while and I'm keen and excited to be part of a club that is definitely on the way up. This is the right move for me, my football and my family."
Herd, 27, made 24 appearances for Chesterfield and was used as both a full-back and a central midfielder.
