MLS has suspended D.C. United defender Bobby Boswell and fined Portland Timbers forward Lucas Melano, the disciplinary committee announced.
Boswell has been banned for one match and was issued an undisclosed fine for fouling Houston Dynamo forward Will Bruin in the 28th minute of D.C.'s 0-0 draw against Houston on Saturday.
Boswell was issued a yellow card after kneeing Bruin in the back -- an action the league's disciplinary body would later unanimously rule constituted serious foul play and endangered the safety of an opponent.
The disciplinary committee also unanimously agreed that Melano was guilty of embellishment after a ninth-minute challenge in the Timbers' 2-2 draw at Real Salt Lake on Saturday. He was also ordered to forfeit an undisclosed amount.
San Jose assistant Ian Russell was similarly fined on Thursday as well for violating the league's policy regarding entering the field of play. He was adjudged to have done so in the 85th and 90th minutes of San Jose's 2-2 draw at Orlando on Saturday.
