Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro suffered a twisted knee in the Euro 2016 quarterfinal against Germany but elected to play on, the club has confirmed.
Sturaro, 23, sustained the injury in the first half of the game but went on to complete the entire 90 minutes plus extra time, but was the only outfield player not to step up for a penalty in the shootout.
The Italians bowed out of the tournament when they lost 6-5 in the shootout, after normal time ended 1-1 with Mesut Ozil opening the scoring for the Germans in the 65th minute before Leonardo Bonucci equalised from the spot 13 minutes later.

"Stefano Sturaro suffered a twisted right knee during Saturday evening's European Championship quarterfinal clash between Italy and Germany in France," read a Juventus statement.
"Sturaro's injury, which is in the medial collateral ligament area of his knee, will be monitored as the midfielder proceeds with the appropriate treatment."
There has been no indication as to how long the midfielder will be sidelined before joining his teammates in preseason training.
Sturaro was one of six Juventus players in Antonio Conte's Euro 2016 squad but will now shift his attention back to recovery, before trying to help the Turin giants secure a sixth consecutive Serie A title for the 2016-17 season.
