Atletico Madrid have agreed to loan Argentina midfielder Matias Kranevitter to Sevilla until June of 2017, the club announced on Thursday. The deal is subject to a medical that will be done in Sevilla once the player returns from holiday in Argentina, Atletico said in a statement. Kranevitter, 23, joined Atletico in the summer of 2015 and joined the first time at the end of December. He helped power Argentina into the final of the Copa America Centenario, which they lost to Chile. Sevilla also confirmed the loan in a statement. Kranevitter spent eight years at River Plate, helping them win the Argentine title, Copa Sudamerica and a first Copa Libertadores in two decades. New Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli, the Argentina native who resigned as Chile coach in January, just five months after guiding the nation to its first ever Copa America title in 2015, said earlier this week that he was pleased with the squad he inherited, but added that he would make changes. "I hope we get the chance to build a really good squad to achieve what we want and do what we think and feel is right about football," he told reporters. Kranevitter is under contract with Atletico until 2020 and he is a dual national (Argentina-Italy) so he is not a foreign player. He is the first player to leave Atletico this season and the third addition to Sevilla under the new management, after Hiroshi Kiyotake and Pablo Sarabia.
