Wolfsburg should have scored four in Dortmund defeat - Dieter Hecking

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has said he believes his side should have scored at least four goals against Borussia Dortmund despite watching them lose 5-1 at home on Wednesday.

Speaking before the match, Hecking had said his side were better than either Legia Warsaw or Darmstadt, both of whom had been beaten 6-0 by Dortmund.

But after watching them fail to keep a rampant Dortmund attack at bay, the 52-year-old said: "I don't give a damn if you beat me round the head with it [his claim that Wolfsburg were better].

"You've seen that we could have a scored a minimum of four goals, and you could see we have more quality than the other two teams."

Despite having 15 shots, nine of them on target, Wolfsburg were only able to score when Daniel Didavi struck in the second half.

The former Stuttgart player came off the bench at half time following a minor knee operation, but was not able to finish the match and now faces further surgery.

"We were aware of the risk," Hecking said. "But Daniel wanted to play and it looked good first. Then he made a movement his knee didn't like."
