Transfer Rater: Max Meyer to Liverpool, Nabil Fekir to Arsenal

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the Whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Max Meyer to Liverpool

Liverpool are at the front of the queue to sign Meyer following the Schalke midfielder's suspension. Meyer, 22, will not play again this season and has been banished from the training ground following a series of rows with sporting director Christian Heidel over his fitness and contract. The Mirror believe Arsenal are also in the running to land the Germany international on a free transfer.

Jack Butland to Wolves

Premier League new boys Wolves want to smash their transfer record to sign England goalkeeper Butland from Stoke for £35 million. Liverpool target Butland is one of the highest earners at Stoke and the Potters are concerned at the financial implications of relegation to the Championship. The Express believes Wolves' pursuit of Butland is fuelled by concerns over John Ruddy's top-flight ability despite the 31-year-old being named the best goalkeeper in the Championship.

Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea

Chelsea are ready to make a second attempt to sign Napoli centre-back Koulibaly, two years after failing with a bid of £47m. Koulibaly has been outstanding in Napoli's Serie A title challenge and his agent Bruno Satin has admitted his future at the Stadio San Paolo is uncertain. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus are also interested in the Senegal international and the Evening Standard claim Chelsea must qualify for the Champions League to have the best chance of signing him.

Nabil Fekir to Arsenal

Lyon forward Fekir could be following former strike partner Alexandre Lacazette to Emirates Stadium with Arsenal preparing a £50m offer. The Gunners have scouted Fekir, 24, extensively this season as the France international has scored 22 goals in 37 games and should earn a place in Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad. The Sun report that his representatives said earlier in the season that Fekir hopes to join one of Europe's top clubs in the near future.

Bryan Cristante to Chelsea

Cristante's profile continues to grow around Europe with Chelsea joining Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus as interested suitors of the Atalanta midfielder. Cristante, 23, has been outstanding after joining Atalanta from Benfica this season and earned his first Italy cap last November. Sky Sports claim Cristante's representatives met a number of Premier League clubs in London last week.
