Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka played on and scored despite suffering a concussion during his club's Europa League defeat to Ajax.
The Bundesliga side lost 3-2 after extra time at the Veltins Arena to go out 4-3 on aggregate, and Germany international Goretzka was taken to hospital after being substituted in the 83rd minute.
The 22-year-old collided with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana seconds before half-time, with both players continuing to receive treatment on the pitch after their teammates had returned to the dressing rooms.
Goretzka vomited during the break but played on and struck the game's opening goal after 53 minutes.
But he had to be helped off the pitch after vomiting again in the second half and was taken to hospital, the club confirmed.

German football magazine kicker later reported that Goretzka confirmed he sustained a concussion and a dislocated jaw.
Speaking to reporters following the match, Schalke captain Benedikt Howedes said: "I don't know what he has exactly. He spent more time with the therapists than with us in the dressing room during the break.
"But he gave everything, and we are very proud of him and hope that it's not all that dramatic."
