Hamburg full-back Dennis Diekmeier has set a new Bundesliga record for most appearances without a goal.
The 27-year-old has not hit the back of the net in 183 league games since his debut for Nuremberg against Schalke in August 2009.
As ten-man Hamburg recorded an unexpected second straight win in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory at FC Cologne on Friday and climbed to third in the standings, Diekmeier took his new league record with good humour.
"If we hadn't been playing with ten men, I would have pressed forward more," Diekmeier said, according to kicker, after finishing his 183th Bundesliga match without a goal.
The full-back passed Markus Schuler's previous record of 182 goalless games for Hannover 96 and Arminia Bielefeld in seven seasons between 2002 and 2009.
Former Wimbledon and Sunderland defender Kenny Cunningham holds the Premier League record with 335 appearances without a goal, and former Cagliari and Hellas Verona defender Alessandro Agostini made 337 appearances in Serie A without scoring.
In France, Toulon defender Jean-Louis Berenguier made 287 appearances without a goal, and in Spain, former Mallorca and Getafe right-back David Cortes did not score in 273 games, according to Opta.
"Now, I am in the Guinness Book of Records," Diekmeier told reporters, and looked forward to the next league game against RB Leipzig, against whom he hit the crossbar earlier this year.
"That was one of my best chances to score," he said, smiling.
