TRENDING RUMORS

- Arsenal are looking at eight players amid plans to make a statement signing, according to the Daily Mail. The Gunners are reportedly exploring the market for a No. 9 striker, and they are considering RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, 21, and 25-year-old Wolves star Matheus Cunha as potential options. Manager Mikel Arteta is also keen to reinforce his squad after the injury sustained by Bukayo Saka, and he could also look to land a wide forward, with Bayern Munich's Leroy Sané (28), Real Madrid's Arda Güler (19), and Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, 21, all on the club's radar.

- Multiple clubs are tracking Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda, says Rudy Galetti. Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United are all reported to be keen on the 17-year-old, and could make a move to sign him in January. Quenda claimed a record held by Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday, when becoming the youngest player to feature in the Lisbon derby during the 1-0 victory over Benfica.

- Manchester United are looking to move on midfielder Christian Eriksen and centre-back Victor Lindelöf before their contracts expire in the summer, reports Calciomercato. Eriksen, 32, and Lindelof, 30, both entered the final six months of their deals on Wednesday. With neither believed to be part of manager Ruben Amorim's future plans, the Red Devils are expected to explore opportunities to part ways with them this month to avoid losing both on a free transfer.

- Argentina international forward Paulo Dybala wants to stay at Roma, reports Nicolo Schira. The 31-year-old is said to have turned down "rich" offers in recent months, and his representatives are set to discuss plans for the future with the Giallorossi in the next few days, with Dybala getting close to the conditions in his deal that activate an automatic one-year extension. He scored his fifth goal of the Serie A campaign on Sunday during the 1-1 draw with AC Milan at the San Siro.

- Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are continuing to monitor the situation of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, reports Ben Jacobs. Al Qadsiah are reportedly one of the latest teams interested in the 32-year-old, who is being linked with an exit away from Old Trafford this month. Cristiano Ronaldo's side Al Nassr are also believed to be keen on securing his signature.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN's Alex Kirkland takes a look at Arda Güler's situation at Real Madrid, and how a move to Arsenal might fit.

Arda Güler's Real Madrid career still hasn't taken off. Nobody doubts the 19-year-old's quality -- and he's a big fan favourite at the Bernabéu -- but his minutes are limited under coach Carlo Ancelotti, and after his profile rocketed following a starring role at Euro 2024, it's entirely predictable that he's being linked with a move away.

Ancelotti has talked up his talent, calling him "the present and future of Real Madrid" and asking for patience, but the stats suggest that in the biggest games, like El Clásico, he isn't willing to call on Güler. In fact, one of the criticisms of Ancelotti from fans and the Madrid media this season has been over his reluctance to use Güler and fellow teenager Endrick.

In terms of a switch to Arsenal, the Martin Ødegaard comparison is an attractive one, and the parallels are obvious: both are gifted, left-footed playmakers, young players who were snapped up by Madrid amid interest from big clubs all over Europe. Güler would also slot perfectly into the 'Ødegaard role' at Arsenal, on the right-hand side of a midfield three.

Ødegaard wasn't willing to wait for his chance at Madrid, given the competition for places in midfield, and pushed to leave, first to Real Sociedad and then Arsenal. Güler hasn't done the same yet. He and the club have both been insistent that a loan move isn't on the cards. But if he continues to struggle to get into the team, and his development is under threat, that patience won't last.
