Josh Koscheck awaits first Bellator fight after signing with promotion

Longtime UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck has signed with Bellator MMA.

Officials announced the signing during the live broadcast of Bellator 139 on Friday night.

Koscheck (17-10) was a member of the inaugural season of the UFC reality series "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2005. All but two of his professional bouts have been in the UFC. He fought Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title in December 2010 and compiled an overall record of 15-10 in the Octagon.

He finished his UFC contract in March, losing to Erick Silva via first-round submission in Rio de Janeiro.

Fighting out of Fresno, California, Koscheck is on a five-fight losing streak. He has been finished in his past four appearances.

No date was given for Koscheck's Bellator debut, although an obvious opponent exists in Paul Daley (36-13-2). The two met in a No. 1 contender fight at UFC 113 in May 2010. Koscheck outwrestled Daley for much of the fight to win by unanimous decision. After the final bell, Daley threw a sucker punch that prompted UFC president Dana White to immediately cut him from the organization.

Koscheck, 37, wasted no time mentioning Daley's name and even posted a photo on social media Friday night of him outgrappling the British striker.
