Thunder hold closed-door meeting following fourth straight loss

The Oklahoma City Thunder held a closed-door meeting late Thursday night after their fourth consecutive loss, a 102-94 defeat to the Denver Nuggets.

The Thunder, a preseason favorite to challenge the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors thanks to their offseason acquisitions of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, fell to 4-7 overall and completed an 0-3 road trip.

"It was just good to get everything out on the table," George told reporters, according to the Oklahoman. "Especially where we're at right now, it's no good if we're bottling it up, because then we could carry it over to the next game and the next game. Just leave everything out in the open."

The Thunder, who fell to 0-6 against Western Conference opponents, squandered an 11-point first-half lead and trailed for the final 7:35 after Emmanuel Mudiay made a 3-pointer to give Denver an 85-82 lead.

"Meetings just make sure we all stay together no matter what," point guard Raymond Felton said, according to the Norman Transcript. "Everybody said their piece. Coach (Billy Donovan) said his piece. ... Right now, we going through something, and we got to stick together no matter what."

"You have to talk about it. You have to look at it. You have to be up front with everybody," Anthony added. "Everybody's got to be held accountable for what's going on."

The Thunder did not disclose specifically what was discussed at the meeting. They return to Oklahoma City for a game Friday against the injury-plagued LA Clippers, who will be without Patrick Beverley, Danilo Gallinari and Milos Teodosic.

"It could go two ways," Anthony said. "We could let this sit in our heads and think about it, or put it behind and move forward.

"That's the beauty of this league and having so many games. I know we complain about back-to-backs but sometimes the back-to-backs are in our favor as players because you get to put that game behind you."
