Slumping Pistons make Avery Bradley available in trade talks

NBA, Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons have made starting shooting guard Avery Bradley available in trade talks, league sources told ESPN.

So far, Detroit's asking price for Bradley is significant, league sources said. Bradley is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and could command an annual salary in the $20 million range.

The Pistons (22-26) have been one of the most aggressive teams in pursuit of improving themselves prior to the Feb. 8 trade deadline. Detroit has lost eight straight games and 12 of its past 15 since point guard Reggie Jackson was lost with an ankle injury.

The Pistons acquired Bradley in a July trade with the Boston Celtics with hopes of ultimately signing him to a long-term deal this summer. Now the Pistons are searching for a return on Bradley prior to the possibility of losing him without compensation in free agency, league sources said.

Detroit renounced the rights to restricted free agent Kentavious Caldwell-Pope upon acquiring Bradley in July, banking on a long-term partnership with Bradley.

Bradley, 27, has been bothered by a groin injury, which caused him to miss seven straight games earlier in the season. He sat out the Pistons' loss Sunday to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bradley is averaging 15 points per game and is shooting just 40.9 percent from the floor, down from 16.3 points and 46.3 percent a year ago with Boston.

Bradley is considered one of the NBA's best two-way shooting guards. He spent seven seasons with Boston before the trade that sent Marcus Morris to the Celtics.
